I Know Where You Live!
|
One thing you must be competely, totally, absolutely aware of : The Holy Grail for any marketer on the Net is the customer's email address. Without this, there can be no continued contact, no follow-on sales, no further business relationship(And, in the hands of the unsrupulous, mass email list). We are not dealing with a face-to face relationship here - the email address is your one hook to the customer. As a customer, it is the one thing that you give to the vendor which allows him to build on his initial contact
As a customer, you may (no, you WILL) find it useful to use a free webmail service such as Hotmail for all your email dealings where you cannot be sure of your correspondent's intentions. If this address gets besieged with spam, discard it and open another account. II

- Another Golden Rule - if you and I have had a business transaction, fair enough, but I will never sell or give your address to anyone else. I should mention here that this is a common promise made by internet marketers, and one that is routinely broken. Back in the day when I had one email address, I received an average of 200 emails a day, of which a maximum of 12 were wanted - the rest were spam. I'm a bit more savvy now, and I would never, EVER, want to go through that again.
- More to the point, I would not put anyone else through the annoyance of that much crap in their inbox.
- I may sell you something, I may contact you by email afterwards, but I will NEVER send you an email you don't want.
- Two more promises - First, tell me to go away and I will, deleting your address as I do. Second, your address is yours, not mine - I will NEVER sell or pass on your details.
